How to overclock a Core 2 Duo E6600?

EGS

I'm posting this question for those who have done or are currently using an overlocked Intel Core 2 Duo E6600.

How can I go about overclocking the Core 2 Duo E6600? How fast can I get it up to? What's the fastest and stablest you were able to get it to?

Can you also increase the front-side bus? I don't know what kind of cooling system I have, it's an HP, but I want to make it faster. :)

Have fun trying to OC an HP. None of the components in your computer, the motherboard, PSU, Ram etc are OC friendly. If you get past the bios (which definitely not OC friendly), you're going to run into cooling issues, as the case is probably poorly ventilated. After that, you may run into power issue, as the powersupply is probably not particularly reliable/stable. My suggestion? Don't try to OC, it's probably not worth the trouble.

That's not that impressive really, I mean I got my E6400 up to 3.4Ghz, which is far better then a stock E6850.

But since he has an HP, he will have a hard time being able to get a worthy overclock.
my E6300 is 3.5GHz Stable...

Jolly good. But that's not an HP is it? ;) :P

I find clockgen just locks up your system, even if you just try a couple MHz overclocked

Yes I used the right one for my motherboard. It just didn't work, I know other people have had the same problem.

Gigabyte uses an app called Easytune. When I got My new X2 3800 I was surprised to find That it wouldn't clock past 2.2ghz regardless of Ram, HTT, multiplier or voltage.. really pissed me off. I tried easytune and I managed a stable 2.9 overclock. I changed the Ht link and Ram timings from the BIOS to do this however.. But still a very good overclocking program. :)
