How to recover old programs???

Hey everyone ! i recently reinstalled windows and before i did i saved my old operating system on a drive. so is it possible to move the software programs from the old operating system to the new one? with out using the software cd? because i have a Creative Audigy ZS Platinum Drive and i need the audio software for this. Thanks

With the new OS you will also need the updated drivers and softwares alike. You can copy configuration files and game saves along with other things. But you will still need to have fresh installations on the newer OS to see new registry values created as well as installation logs. While games will go right on even some older 2K/ME/XP desktop applications will see a need for newer versions for Vista as one example.

For the Audigy line Creative still only has beta drivers available at the moment for use on Vista. I certainly wouldn't recommend allowing Windows to automatically search the web for Vista updates. The Audigy 4 Pro here suddenly saw SB Live SE software go on! Blue Screens of "crash" and memory dumps until that and a few other supposedly updated items were removed!
