When I transferred the contents of my harddrive to an external harddrive it made me make a "ghost file backup" . I don't know what that is but it used up half my harddrive. How do I get back this space from the ghost file back up ?
its a hidden partition probably. Delete it using Disk Management and repartition and reformat it. The space will show up as a new D drive (you can combine the two again but its very risky and not easy)
