Hi
I bought a new computer base and have had it 3 days and its pot luck if it starts - doesnt freeze - etc etc and am going to send it back.
My question is how do i remove vista 32 bit. It has only this on the hard drive si isnt dual boot. I am not interested in fixing any of the errors (many) just formatting it ready to send back.

Thanks
Nick

If your laptop came with a restore disk, you can use that to recover the computer to it's factory condition. You can also use a Windows install disk, if you have one. Another option is a program called GParted.

Reply to this thread if you want instructions on how to use GParted. I don't feel like typing it out if you're not gonna use it. ;)

Why don't you simply remove all your personal files and send it back? You've only used it for a few days, correct?

It sounds like the preinstalled copy of Windows wasn't complete. Vista seems to be more stable then XP in several ways.

Most of the newer systems out now see an automatic restore option when pressing either a specific key or combination for seeing the factory defaults restored. Returning it without voiding the warranty would make more sense while the restoration could see the problems cleaned up.

The need to write it out isn't even needed. The general documentation with screen shots that show how to use GParted are seen at http://gparted.sourceforge.net/larry/generalities/gparted.htm

With SP1 on now many are reporting Vista seems to run better then before with the bugs being worked out like with any other version of Windows. Instead of wiping the drive and vioding the option to return the system I would otherwise follow mep916's advice on seeing the factory defaults restored.
