How to send file over the internet

I want to send a video to friend oversea. To tell him how are the group of friend now. But I still cannot figure out how to send this file to him over the internet. Can anyone pls tell me

if you have broadband put it into a gmail account and tell ur friend to dl it from there.
if you dont have bb, then burn to a cd and post it - saves the time compressing and sending it etc..
