im jw , how can i change an old computer into a server computer, what extra parts do i have to put into it to make it a server. and how can i benefit my self of having a server in my house ? (gaming, networking?)
it depends on which games you want to host.
for a http/ftp server forward ports 80 and 443. Install wamp for a http/ftp server.
you dont need extra parts for a server, if you want to do some high-end game hosting then you might need a better cpu and more ram, but thats about it.

Yes, any computer is server acctable, you can use it for http, mail, ftp, network drive, dns. and many more. if you never used linux. try a live distro like ubuntu.
