How to set up a home wireless network to share between computers???

Hi I have a wireless network (used for the net only so far) at my house and two laptops. Both laptops have vista home premium. I am wanting to find out how I make it so i can share files between the computers. I tried something that I thought would work, but it didn't. I put some folders in the "shared folders" folder on the one computer and when i went to the other computer I looked in the folder and there was nothing. I also turned on the file sharing option in the networking area, but it didn't work. Is there something I am missing here?
thanks,
Dennis

OK, well.

  1. Right-click on the folder that you would like to share
  2. Hit Properties
  3. Sharing Tab
  4. Hit "Share"
  5. Done

Then on the other computers and go into my network places and follow on (continue)

Hope this helps.

Hello

You can get it to your desktop, by right clicking any where on your desktop and select properties, then select the desktop tab, then you will select the customize desktop button, then check the box that says my network places, then select ok and it will appear. Then go into my network places and then view available computers near you.

Ok guys, the computer in question is using Vista. Vista has replaced "My Network Places" with just "Network". The "Network" option should be available by opening up the start menu. After the network option loads, you will see a list of detected computers on the network. Just open up one of them and all of the shared folders should be viewable.

thanks for the help. I am making progress. Oddly, when I am on the one laptop I can see what that one is sharing in the "network" section and the same as the other laptop, but for some reason I can't see what the other one is sharing.
