No not a server. Considering now that a lot of us play games and we want to play with each other, we need to set up a game. Now there is a section for games, but really, no one ever checks it.
You should really add someones Steam or xFire account if you want to play a game with them for starters.
Now you need to plan ahead if you want lots of people from CF to join your game, not everyone is in the same time zone, so make it at least 24 hours.
Make sure you all know what people want to play and what maps etc.
Also make sure that you have the right servers (don't say you have a server for anything if you don't).
You should put a password on the server so randoms don't join in.
Once you have got it organized, play and have fun.
P.S. I wrote this because some people have tried to set up games on the spot and it really fails, so if you want to have a CF match (don't put CF on the server) don't do it at the moment.
