how to set up boot drive + storage drive?

so i just signed for my new sata III 128gb ssd, i was planning on making it my primary drive and keeping my 500gb for extra storage incase i dont have enough space. what do i need to do physically connect them in the system and what do i need to do with the current drive that has windows on it? do i need to format or what? hope that was clear enough for you? let me know if you need more info :)

Just connect both drives to the motherboard and install your OS onto the SSD. Once you're in windows you can reformat and repartition your 500GB storage drive.
 
I would only put the SSD in the desktop during install, just to avoid confusion. Then throw in the storage drive afterwards.
