how to set up wifi access for a rental property

We just bought a small bungalow in Daytona Beach that we plan on using for ourselves most of the year, but we also want to make it available for short term rentals. We want to install WiFi access in the property so that we can take our laptop with us and stay in touch with the internet while at the house, and also have it available for guests when they stay there as well. I've obviously installed routers before in our own home, but how do you go about setting one up this kind of situation - anyone gone through this experience? Can you set up internet access in a remote house without having to install a computer there as well?

You don't need a computer there to have it available. All you need is a modem and a router. Though when you have it installed a technician may need a computer to set up the internet access, I'm not sure.

Once you have internet, you can set up whatever router you want. I'd just be sure to set it up as secure with WPA2 encryption.

Usually you can just set the router up with a WPA2 password and give it to your tenant. Then their traffic will be encrypted and you don't have random people leeching off of your wifi.

If you had something like a wireless LAN controller you could even set up a captive portal with username/passwords or a welcome HTTP screen upon forwarding. For your uses it really just sounds like a frivolous expense, though.
