So heres the set up I have. My nextdoor neighbor (friend) is letting me use his internet thru my Wifi adaptor he gave me the password.

I'm trying to set it up so that I can send out the signal that my computer has throughout my room so my phone can pick it up. I have a netgear 54mbps wireless router WGR614 v7 that I am trying to do this with. I know you are usually supposed to connect from the wall to a modem to your router but is it possible to do it with the set up I have?

not sure what you quite mean but through the PC i believe you can send out a WiFi signal using a tool (not spotify) i think but im not sure

You're right, you don't know.

One option is for you to get a wireless bridge, which is a device that receives the wireless signal and lets you plug in hard wired devices, such as a second router, which you could then use for internet at your house. A second option would be to get a wireless repeater and simply repeat his signal. Many higher end access points have bridge and repeater modes as well.

whoops

sorry i didn't understand what you wanted i thought you wanted to extend wireless signal

He does. He wants to take his neighbor's wireless and extend it. The best way to do it is to use an extender/repeater.
