How to stop MS Word from creating "----" lines?

In Word 2007, I'm writing something and I divide sections of the document by using dashes to create dividers between sections of text, but when I do this, when I write "------------" and press enter to move to the next line Word automatically coverts it to like a full line that stretches across the page. I don't want this becasue these lines that it creates behave just completely bizzarely, illogically and infuriatingly in too many ways to go into.

Does anyone know how to stop Word from doing this?

Like Okeydokey said...it's auto-formatting issue.
You can always go into Word options dialog box and turn off auto-formatting options completely.
I never really liked them anyway so I always turn them off.
