How to stop this rebooting?

Alright, I've posted a few times before on how to get my computer to stop automatically rebooting. The power supply is good, the temperature is where it's supposed to be, and I've even turned off automatic reboots for WinXP.

I know it has to be this video card I'm using, GeForce4 MX440 128MB, because the problem started happening right after I installed it. i've checked to make sure that all the drivers are up to date, and all that junk.

Could this now be a memory problem or disk/driver problem? I am ordering a new video card because this one I'm using now is almost 3 years old, and was sitting in a box for almost 6 months, unprotected, lol. Yes yes, bad me ..

Any ideas?

did it really take you 3 years to realize that problem? why didn't you consulte your problem when that started.. now it can be many factors..

explain what exactly happens prior to reboot.. happens when you do anything specific? any messages?

Well, this is a new computer that I put the video card in. But is IT an old card ... which is why I bought a new one off of pricewatch today.

As far as any messages, it just reboots, nothing more is said.

OMG I came here to post the same thing, I installed that that same card MX440 128MB(and redid windows and everything on a new HD) and this started happeneing to me.

ACtully i never read your other theads and dont know if its the same, but somtimes it'll be 10 minties after I start, some times after a few hours, but it just does random rebooots, and ussaly during bad times like during games :(

Actully now that i think of it, I didn;t have a problem UNTILL i updated the drivers, I installed the onces on the disk, and had it like that for a couple day's untill I downlaoded and installed the latest ones .

im not sure but to say that it may just be the old video card.. it doesn't seem like its anything else.. try the new one and see

check and see if the disk used to install the drivers has anything extra on it. if it does, reinstall the drivers with the disk and make sure u dont install anythign else from the disk. Sometimes the software that comes with hardware can cause some computer mess ups. also try installing the drivers for the card from online instead of the disk.
