How to test RAM

Need some guidance on testing RAM. I tried to download memtest and seem to be having a problem. When I get to the end where it says open folder, well it wont. Used 2 separate PCs to do this. Also I cannot find documentation on memtest to figure out what to look for when I run it. Of course I have to figure out how to get that accomplished first.

Any other memory test utilities that you mat recommend?

Memtest should be an iso inside a zipped file I believe. You need to unzip it and then use burning software that will write iso images to a CD and then boot to the CD. Pretty obvious if memory is bad, you'll see a bunch of errors come up.

Thanks John. I downloaded and running now. I'm using the one from Cnet downloads (free). No iso needed. Must be for the paid versions, which are next to nothing cost wise.

Windows should come with its own memory testing program that should be accessible by pressing f8 during boot up.

I know XP had it, I havent seen if 7 has it but I do believe Vista had it as well.
