how to test rescue cd

Hello
I burned a bitdefender and avira CDs. Is there an easy way to test them?
Layman's terms please, since I haven't gone to computer school. lol

Uh....boot to them and see if they boot?

And then? What are the steps? Do I turn off my security? Do I run the cd just after I power up my PC? I'm sorry to be a pain in the butt...want to make sure I do it right and not screw anything up.

You download the file somewhere on your hard drive. Then restart your computer and boot to your rescue CD. Then scan your drive. You can scan the specific folder you saved the test file to instead of wasting time scanning the entire drive.
