I have a 2002 model mercury motherboard( model no: KOB P4M266 NDFSMx)
The BIOS is an old version which came along with the MB when i bought it. Now i wish to update the BIOS. I do not have a floppy drive. I have a cdrw. I also have the updated BIOS ( .rom extension which i have downloaded from the kobian site) but i don't know how to update it. Please suggest me how to do so?

Some motherboards comes with cds that have a windows program that will update the bios for you. If you dont have that then there are ways I know of but they get much more complicated. See if you have a windows program that came with your motherboard that update bios.

I had a brief look at the manual and it doesnt seem like you can update without floppy. You might be able to do it via bootable CD though

i have a bootable cd. how can i actually update the bios.i also have the motherboard cd which has awdflash.exe file which i heard is used for flashing the BIOS. But i am not sure of how to do an update. Help me plzz

i would imagine that you could create a bootable cd using something like Nero, and have the flash files on that cd and it would work...i would just find an old floppy drive...im sure your local computer store would probably have an old junker they would just give you, or if theres anyone your friends with that has access to that kind of stuff...such as school network admins:D

so if this would work what you would need to do is make the disk, then set your BIOS to boot from cd, in theory this should take you to a command prompt, if so then run the flash file usually something.exe and it should take care of the rest.
