How to wipe your tracks clean

Hello,

I am afraid, or certain, that someone has used my system to surf the net. If it is who I think it is, it was probably porn.(maybe not, but) I am very nervous about this. Can i check and erase any sign of it?

Your story doesn't make sence, If it's your system why it it matter? It sounds more like you were and your trying to cover up...

Anyway's options internet tools, clear temp files, cache, cookies.

Dear X,

This is not rocket science. If my friend (now questionable) went to a website where he shouldn't, or my machine breaks down and needs repair so that a techie can see or find files, who will be responsible? I can even erase the simple stuff (temp files, cache, etc.) but he is younger than I, and as such, a bit more savy. So your reply is in error and bad taste.

I beg to differ. Repair techs couldn't care less what kind of URLs the customer has been visiting other than to perhaps mention certain ones are likely to net you some malware.

Thay have better things to do than surf your computer trying to see where you (or your "now questionable" friend) have been.

So, IMO, you need either a better story or to just ask outright how you can cover your steps. Either way you are more likely to get some help.

I'd recommend Crap Cleaner to get rid of most traces, but be aware that many of these sites contain viruses or malware. Run a virus check, and, more importantly, a malware check with Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware before you consider your system clean.
