How would I diagnose a failing Hard Disc?

Hello,

Someone suggested that a problem of mine may be caused by a failing Hard Disc, but didn't know how to diagnose it and suggested I start a new thread to ask about it. How would I diagnose a failing Hard Disc?

Go to the HD's manufacturer's page. They normally have tools to test your drive. However, there's no sure way... SMART and other diagnostic tools can still show 100% on a failing drive.
