how xbox and ps games work? how they make it?

i dont play much with computer, just Wow, :) and NFSMW.
im really intrested in how games work on xbox?
how they make it?
have you ever made a game?
 
The developers use PCs(some use Macs) to program and to create the character models, textures, animations, maps, effects, AI, etc. Once they've got everything created they put the game together on a CD or DVD and start testing it on Dev Kits. Dev kits are just regular consoles with a few extra features and are sometimes a bit more powerful than the standard retail system. They use the dev kit to test out the game and to find and fix any glitches or bugs that made it through. After they find and fix all the bugs that they know of, the finished game goes into production.

That's the basic stuff. There's more like planning out all the scenes and creating concept art.
 
so every game has a program section and design section, right?
so there is an specific language to program games?
can normal people(like me and you) buy or have those programs?
