Hows This for Overheating

Customers Computer was running really slow and cpu fan sounded like a Jet Plane. I was like WTF shouldn't be this slow. I opened up the case and found the HS was BAKED on with dust. The dust can would not blow it off so i had to scrape it off. Once off i was then able to dust with the air can.

Went from a IDLE Peak of 84oC down to a cools 46oC now on idle and 63oC on load.

Heres pictures of this POS computer HA.

yea when i booted it up and ran progrmas i was like WHOA whats going on. So i installed everest and seen temps like that. So i then powered down and opened case to discover that big mess inside. I cant beleive he never dusted the computer in 5 years of owning it.

Yeah man. Regular people don't know that they occasionally have to clean out their computer... They don't think that it collects dust... :| But that creates more work for people like you and I ! :D Google is running us out of the computer business because people just google their computer problems before going to a repair man :(

Wow nice temps! :D

Did you replace the Thermal paste on that cooler? I bet some fresh paste would have done it some good too ;)

Yes i did put some artic silver ceramique and dusted it. Right now AVG is running 89%cpu usage and its maxing at 63oC but hovering around 58oC.

This is worst i ever seen dust. The chunk of dust that came off was like a Brillo bad.

Thats a yes and no. Most ppl can read about it but its not common sense to most people even if directions are provided. They fear messing it up and rather pay the money for us guys to do it.

True.. Everyone in the computer business needs to post false instructions on how to do things with the computer.. This way they'll have to go to get it serviced :D

Thats one of the reason why i stayed away from Intel due to higher temps. AMD always been cooler for me. But i just had the guy pick up the computer and said hes a computer tech guy for a hospital.

I find his story to be a lie due to the 3000+ spyware/viruses i found. Also OS last install date was 1/15/2005. Sorry but no tech lets their computer get this bad.

I assume you removed the cpu fan? just wondering since I didnt see it. The case fan is friggin bookin, atleast its twice as fast as mine. Also the hard drive temp seems quite high too, my hard drive ranges between 31-38. Does the comp have an intake fan or atleast a mount to put one on?

Looks like something I'd find at work. I should get the camera and upload some of the more nasty ones I've seen.

yes i did as the HS was running 140F to the touch from the temp gun reading and i wasnt touching that. So i took the fan off and cleaned it up. The chassis fan and cpu fan are wires backwards. the High RPM fan is really the cpu but i think something is crossed with the motherboard or Everest. when the cpu fan would spin up Everest read it as the Chassis and not the cpu fan.

And it was a prebuilt from Sony. so it only had the HSF and the exhaust fan thats it. Nothing else anywhere. The HD temps did go down to 39 once the cpu temps went down.

Ive dont returned the computer and havent heard from him since so i take it hes happy with it.
