HP a1230n not what it says it is?

I just purchased an HP a1230n desktop PC which is supposed to be an AMD Athlon 64 3700+ @ 2.2gHz. What it says under system performance is that it is actually an AMD Athlon 64 3800+ running @ 1.8gHz. What does this mean and what is the difference between the two processors?

My HP has an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ in it, but under display says 1.79Ghz, but it really runs right at 2.0Ghz according to CPU-z, it's just the way HP writes it in, weird.

I edited that out, sorry, i read it wrong, i thought you said that you had a 3800 instead of 3700, didn't look at speeds.

Google CPUz, it's a program that tells you all about your system, you'll see what you really have then.

I just ran CPUz and it says I have an AMD Athlon 64 3800+ made by Venice, Socket 939, running at 1GHz??? It then multiplys the clockspeed by 5.0 = HTT = 200MHz. Could someone make some sense out of this? Why is the clock speed only 1GHz?

I have one of those also. It also tells me its a 3800+, so you're not the only one. It shows lower clock speeds because when its not being heavily used, it lowers itself, or something like that. I read it on a piece of paper that came with it.

I had the same problem with my friend's computer and Hairy Lee helped out a bunch, the way to fix it is go to the power options (in control panel) and change it to Home/Office Desk
