Hello,

My hp laptop did not start, when i put the charger the light would come on. I sent it to best buy becasue I have a warranty to fix. 2 weeks later I get a call and they tell me it is a dead motherboard due to liquid. I am not lying but there was no liquid. I dont know where they came with that diagnosis. Today, after 2 months I go pick up the computer from best buy and tried to play with it and I was shocked when it started. but the problem is I get the blue screen errors, such as

0XOOOOOOF4

0X00000050

0X00000024

what should I do. evertime i go to best buy i get some idiot has no clue and i have to help give them hints about diagnosing it. (when I took this to them for the first time, the guy wanted to see if it was the charger, even though when you plug the charger the light would come on and I had another laptop, i told them that the charger was working lol) what is my opption now they say my warranty is void? this stupd hp laptop has given me a big problem. IF they don't fix it, i am willing to sue bb.

Why not discuss it with the store manager rather than the idiot behind the computer counter?

That leaves you two choices. You can lick your wounds or fight it. You can consider action line, small claims court, attempting to get the manufacturer interested in resolving it etc. etc. etc. Best of luck.

First Document " EVERYTHING "

Save receipts - create a timeline - document conversations - etc.

Get the manager's name - let him know you're taking his name and going over his head to corporate - or to his manager until you get satisfaction - and then do what you say.

I'd bring a copy of their Warranty from the Bestbuy warranty. If the PC was 30 days old when you brought it in - you have a leg to stand on. If it's under warranty - you might be under the S.O.L. with legalese jargon of their warranty.

30-Day Return Period
Thirty days from the date merchandise was received, refunds are available on the remainder of our products (see exceptions below).

Exceptions
The following items are not returnable:

Labor and/or installation services
Items that are abused
Opened computer software, movies, music and video games
If the original item is opened and is damaged or defective, or if an incorrect item was shipped, you may receive credit for these items. Please see details below (Damaged, Defective or Incorrect Items section).
iTunes prepaid music cards
Best Buy Digital Music Store cards
Best Buy/Kodak Gallery Prepaid Photo Cards
UMusic Prepaid Ringtone cards
Any merchandise missing the original Universal Product Code (UPC) cannot be returned. If the item is damaged or defective, please see details below.

Damaged, Defective or Incorrect Items
If you return a damaged, defective or incorrect item by mail or to a Best Buy store, you will receive a credit. You may then choose to purchase a replacement item in the store or online. To make sure the store has your product in stock, call Customer Care at 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289).

I'd also contact your credit card company - you may have a year warranty if you purchased it via Credit card. Either way - I'd contact your CC company - but I'd let the guy at Best Buy know you're not rolling over and not going away. That you expect a store credit and have documented everything. Sometimes putting you off gets you to go away - but if you know that you're gonna steamroll ahead and drag him with you - or push him over the cliff in doing so - you might get action.

Begin with the end in mind. I'd expect a store credit and let him know from the getgo that's what you're looking for and ask him the best way he'd like to get there. If you contact your CC company in advance - you might find out you can use leverage of reversing payment ahead of time. That might get action.

You can send a certified letter to Best Buy corporate - and let them know " in detail " with documentation of your scenario and let them know pushing you to the back is going to cause them to lose more business than just ignoring you. Better Business Bureau, spreading the word vocally on internet forums, friends, family, etc - can threaten small claims court depending on where things go - but I'd rather not go that route - b/c it's a hassel - but might get some movement.

The thing you left out of your OP was - HOW OLD IS YOUR PC - when you decided to get it serviced from Best Buy. Is it a new PC - or a PC being serviced under extended warranty. Makes a difference in what your rights are as a Customer. If it's being serviced under an extended warranty - my best guess is you're S.O.L. but you can still make some noise and posture and see what it gets you.

I don't buy extended warranties - b/c I don't want to go what you're dealing with. If it's new - I'd make sure I got my money back - Period even if they have to make an exception in your case

some hp laptops...mine for example...were produced with defective mother boards...when mine went out it started with the wireless card and then affected the entire computer. I simply called up HP and they said it was recalled so i sent it in...they sent me the box and paid for shipping...and within a week I got my computer back with no problems...

Liquid damage is obvious as it oxidizes the parts and causes minor corrosion and plus it will leave a stain on the circuit board. Ask for pics as proof.
