HP Deskjet D4360

Okay, so here is the problem. I'm at work, and trying to avoid dealing with HP. The problem I'm getting is that the printer is connected, paper is going through, but nothing is printing. The thing is the computer is telling me that the printer is not connected. I've tried 3 different cables with this thing. They all work too, I tested them to make sure. Now, when I turn the printer off I am told it is offline. When I turn it back on I'm told it is ready. Now that makes it seem kinda... hypocritical...

So, any help at all?

Also installed and uninstalled the driver (then installed it again). Google so far hasn't helped me. I may just be searching weirdly.

Yes. The paper feeds, but the printer makes no effort to print anything. Basically the ink thingy (What the hell is it called anyway?) doesn't move. The paper just feeds and then runs through.

Hmm..I wonder if the heads are dirty? Is there an option in the menu to re-align heads or clean the jets?

Tried, the thing is the paper just feeds through. Nothing else happens. So even if they were dirty it would make not difference. I tried to print a full page of pure blue ink, took a second to pass the paper through and then just stop. It might be just screwed and I'll need to have it returned and exchanged. Either way, I hate printers.

Installing a 3rd time. Hey after all 3rd times the charm...

nope, 3rd time is not the charm...

W00t! For some reason it kinda solved itself... Well, this will go down and another odd thing that has happened to me and computers...

Or not... Well, it will print the calibration pages, but trying to print a test page or from word it comes up with the old problem.

I work in an electronics store, and this is the #1 problem that HPs seem to have. You'll probably have to exchange it for another one, it sounds like it will print pre-set information, but ignores anything different which would be an interface problem of some sort. If a new printer doesn't fix the problem there might be a deeper problem like a software conflict that would be creating issues. See if the exchange works and we'll go from there.

The problem was actualy figured out last night by someone else. There was a lack of service packs for XP. Apparently there was some virus or something that was removed and somehow they took the updates for XP. At least that is what the guy was saying. He is getting a CD-key for XP tomorrow, so I'll update everyone then.
