Hey all - I recently p/u a video game (Ghost Recon Advanced Warrior), that necessitates some upgrades to my HP a450n:
Intel P4 - 3.0 ghz, 800 mhz FSB, ASUS MBoard, 512 mb DDR SDRAM (2 slots - 1 is empty), 160 GB, GeForceFX 5200 AGP2 8X card, 250w PSU;
I've almost figured out the memory stick part: I need 1 GB, so I'll be adding a 1 GB stick in addition to the 512. Should the 1GB be placed in the 512 current slot, and that one moved over, or doesn't it make a difference?
The game calls for a 6 or 7 series GeForce card. Does it matter that some cards are DDR2, while my machine is DDR?
Finally, a new card will require a new PSU (I guess, since those series call for 300w, which I believe is minimum). Most of the PSUs on NEWEGG indicate that they are not nvidia SLI supportive - does this matter? And are two 12v rails better than one? And does anyone have an idea where I can get an upgrade (350w or better) that will fit my case? The closest I can find is a 300w ATX.
Long winded, I know, but thanks in advance.
