I have a HP dv6245us which is a dv6000 for all practical purposes,It is a intel centrino Duo. I found the mother board number 434723-001 The screen is slowly going dark I can still use it but the left side is worse. My son thinks it could be the inverter behind the screen. I don't want the throw parts at it that might not be right so, Could somone lead me in the right direction on what to look for to fix it. I would love to get a new one but it is not going to happen right now. I know there is alot of trouble with these HP laptops but I have had this for quite a while and it has been pretty good,I use it for 6-7 hours a day. Can any parts for these laptops be bought at the computer shows that come around,Any help will be appreciated.

You might want to try eBay and see if you can find a non-functioning unit that can be cannabalized. They do sell such units. If you try going through HP they will charge you for shipping both ways, diagnostic costs, plus cost for the part. You might as well buy a new laptop for what they'll charge even you only get the part.

Those DV6000 along with the DV9000 series had epic motherboard failures. I bought a DV6000 for my daughter 4 and half years ago and the wireless went. It wan't the card; it was the motherboard and what HP wanted to charge me was criminal. It is still working but only because of the cooling pad I got her. One more semester to go and then we're home free.
