HP dv6700 vs ASUS m51?

I really can't decide between the two.

HP dv6700:
2.4 ghz intel dual core 2
3gb of RAM
250 gb hard drive
Nvidia 256mb 8400M

ASUS m51:
2.4ghz intel dual core 2 duo
4 gb ram
250 gb hard drive
Nvidia 512mb 9500M

Reviews show that the build quality of the HP is far better. Im typing on one right now actually, and i like the design very much. The ASUS one is apparently made of rather cheap plastics, and shows considerable flex during use. Battery life is better on the HP as well.

I will be a freshman in college, so battery life and durability is probably important. From what I can tell, the HP is better with both. The stats however, (ram and video card) are definitely better on the ASUS. Basically, the ASUS has the better hardware, the HP has the better chassis.

Both are the same price. I really can't decide which to take. Help?

The asus is better, because it has a gig more of ram, and a better graphics card. And asus makes good laptops with usually good build quality.

+3 on the asus because it has more RAM and a bit better video card than the HP. i do not have experience using an asus laptop (except for my 2 sister's eeePC's. can you even class that as a notebook? it's more like a toy.) , but asus has been known to be reliable. ;)

Hp has a new model of the dv6000 that just came out last week. It uses the new Centrino 2 processors, which is better than what the ASUS has. Plus, it has a 9600M which is better than the asus video card.

Still think ASUS? Im kinda leaning towards this new HP dv5t .
