hp g60-445dx help

hey guys and gals my friend brought me a hp laptop and when u press the power button the computer starts up but with a black screen only i tried f function buttons with no luck i did a external monitor to see if i could get a pic on my big screen nothing just blank its running vista

i tried doing the hard reset removing battery holding down the power button to rest the capacitors but nothing

i read that it could be the gpu on the laptop is bad

any help thanks in advance

I would have to agree and with the gpu being integrated onto the main board it's time to toss it in the trash.

Keep the memory and hard drive though.

WOW u really think so wolfeymole is that bad huh... so its not a fixer just rather trash it and get another one cause i read that the g60 series was a bug hp mistake and that it over heats and the soldier tends to fracture
 
I look at it this way.

If you don't get a picture on the laptop screen then the inverter may have died.

If you don't get a picture once an external monitor is hooked up then it's more or less guaranteed that the gpu has died.
