any idea what type of ram they put in them?
i think theyre 200pin ddr's (i mean the turion 64 models)
can anyone tell me? ive emailed hp before their representatives stink tho lol

anyways, im thinkin about getting a laptop and just buying my own ram for it... the stuff i found was a 1gb stick for $83 and they want $125 to upgrade from 256mb to 2x512mb... i figure why not just run a 256mb stick and a 1024mb stick since laptops and socket 754 doesn't use dual channel anyways...
save $50 and add .25gb :) yay lol

right now, your best bet is to buy anything intel, because they use DDR2, which is faster. Id suggest only buying a new AMD based laptop after the AM2 comes out officially so that AMD laptops use DDR2 also

Hes not looking for a really nice laptop (i think), he's just looking for a decent one, and most likely he's not going to pay for an AM2 laptop.

funny... i thought you said ddr2 was better :)
haha im kidding, it is for single channel...
but right now my ram is outperforming ddr2 1000 memory... by about 200mbps... depending on the specific memory.
what was that? ddr memory isn't worse? lol
anyways, i want the proc to be 64-bit... which is why im getting socket 754 with a sempron...
i don't need super fast ram, i just need it to be larger than 512mb...
i only need mobility in this machine, with enough memory...
my desktop more than suffices for performance and gaming, this machine will just be my mobile comp.

im lookin for the one with the best price/performance ratio.
though ddr2 i hear is good low power usage laptop ram..
im sure the proc will use more power though. lol
