HP Laptop Boot Problem

Hi, I have a HP Pavilion DV6000 laptop which I bought in May 2007. In the last few days, whenever I start it up, all the lights go on and it appears to be working like normal. Then after a second or two, the lights go off and the computer is completely off. I am confused as to what might be wrong. I am very new to this forum so I will apologize in advance if I have written in the wrong section. Thanks.

Hi,I think you have a heat problem.Computers turn off to prevent damage from over heating.I had a Dell Inspiron 5100,and I called customer service and they told me to use an air can to blow on the side fans.A lot of dust flew out of the laptop, and after it turned on it stayed on.Try buying an air can and clean the side fans and back ones.Your laptop might be clogged up.

it cant be a heat problem. It doesent have time to heat enough in 2 seconds. It must reach over 80C to shut down, so heat is not the problem. try to read what you see on the screen just before it shuts down, and pooste it here.

the screen never reads anything. It literally starts up and only one second later it shuts off. When it was running normally it took 10 seconds or so before the screen would change from black

The hard disk may be dead. there is a way to check but I forgot. Call HP support and they will tell u the button to tab after pushing the power button. The beeping order will tell whats wrong with it.

lol

I am experiencing the EXACT same problem with my DV6000.

When I turn it on to boot up, everything lights up and the HDD spins. Then it just repeats that about 3-5times then shuts off.

Do you also not have any light from the monitor?

Well to shut down it can be well over 100C to shut down, depending on the CPU.

But i say could be ram or PSU fault
