HP Laptop - Did I get a dud?

Hello,

I purchased a laptop about 10 months ago and it has been frustrating since day 1. I didn't use it a ton at first, but now I use it a lot mostly for business functions in MS office programs and email. I also use it for web surfing, but mostly the same sites. When I am typing, the computer won't even keep up with how fast I type (which is only around 50 wpm) and often I have to watch and then go back to re-type sections. I have never had this before. If a computer was every behind it would at least populate what you had typed when it caught up! It is painfully slow when using the web on basic sites and often freezes up.

HP1511 laptop
windows 10 home
AMD E1-2100 APU with Radeon HD graphics 1.00 GHz
4.00 GB RAM
64 bit operating system.

I realize this isn't a high-end laptop or anything, but I thought that it would be suitable for my use and was actually higher spec'd than my previous HP laptop which worked great for many years.

I looked on this site for recommendations and have already completed scans using:
1. AdW Cleaner
2. JRT
3. OTL
4. Malwarebyte anti-malware

Only one of the above found 2 files and that was it. As mentioned, this laptop was slow from the start and seems to be a bit worse maybe or I am just more frustrated.

Any ideas on what I can look for?

Thanks in advance.

The problem is that you have a very low end processor, dual core at only 1ghz. It's not made for speed. So it basically means you'll be looking for a new machine. If you want something decent, go quad core cpu around 2ghz.

Thanks Johnb35. That makes sense. There is a pretty reasonably priced Lenovo Thinkpad with the following specs:

  • Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-2520M 2.5Ghz (3M Cache, up to 3.20 GHz)
  • 4GB DDR3-1333/PC3-10600 system memory

Do you think I can probably expect a pretty significant increase in performance?
