17.0" WSXGA+ High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1680 x 1050)
Vs
17.0" WXGA+ High-Definition Ultra HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1440 x 900)

I know there have been posts on WSXGA+ Vs WXGA+ but they never seem to be the exact same display. I am thinking the 1680x1050 because I would get more real estate on my desktop. But I wanted to get other's opinions. Every time I go to Best Buy Or Circuit City they never have a WSXGA+ monitor on their laptops. Thanks in advance :D

Well the thing is if its something you want to play games on at all the 1680 x 1050 the laptops graphics may not handle that well with games so you may have to lower the res anyways. I like 1440x900 myself I use it on my 19" widescreen. The other res's look funny and too smallish to me.

I don't game much at all! The only game I like is an older game... Command and Conquer! I was always curious why the smaller resolution display was more expensive on hp.com. I asked a few guys at BB and they said to display that goes to 1050!

Here is what I put together! I was going to upgrade the ram on my own.

Nice, Make sure the mobo for the laptop supports 4gigs or how much you want to add and get the 64 bit os instead of the 32bit so you can use the full gigs.

I am going to get 4g and I know only 3 will be shown, but I think it is not worth it to go to vista 64 with the small amount of programs out there right now and from what I hear the horrible support. Maybe that will be what my next topic is about.

I currently use 4 gigs with 64 bit os, I haven't found a program I used on 32bit that I cant use on 64bit. You have to make sure you get all 64bit drivers though.
