so basically i was writing my awseome essay and all of a sudden my screen spazzes out. its like everything got disorted and froze. i shut up down once and turned it back on and then the screen again got disorted and froze. i then turned it off and now it wont even boot back up. all the lights are on and everything. please any help suggestions?? please

well, when i hit the power button i hear the normal start up sounds but nothing is on the screen. im scared.

So normal startup sounds as in windows, correct? Because a computer with a dead motherboard can still cause the HD light to shine(solid) fans to go, etc etc...

If you can boot to windows, I'd say, again, to try an external monitor of some sort. Also, do you think it could of overheated? I you can't get access to a monitor, it couldn't hurt(besides your deadline) to let it sit a few hours and try again...

not the normal windows start up sound..more like the hardware sounds? does that make sense??...and the lights are..i did try to plug it in to a monitor of my roommates, and turned it on but the monitor was still black..i hope its not fried..i doubt it...i hope? it couldnt be overheated because it was only on for like 4 hours today...hope that helps

If you don't get any video, all I can say is just leave it sitting upside down for a while. Pop the battery out too and press the power button(not plugged up at all) to discharge it. Let it cool off and try again in an hour or so.

i was just wondering but why should i leave it up side down? not trying to be a dick or anything, its out of curiosity only.

You don't have to, but typically the bottom is the warmest portion of the laptop. The components are typically more towards the bottom too.

well its 1 am and my tried to start my computer and yet the buttons are still lite but nothing on the screen. I put a cd in the cd drtive and i hear it spinning on the inside of my laptop. please i need help!

Pop the laptop open and check the connections :P I kind of doubt that's the problem, though. You should be able to get something on an external monitor. Most video cards will display the same video on all outputs(IE the LCD, VGA, and TV-Out if you have it) during POST and while booting.

I never got what kind of laptop you have. Might it have a dedicated video card or some intergrated video?
