Alright i have a laptop im fixin for a friend well at first i thought it was gunna be easy because it was just a corrupt windows file.. well i started the xp install went to format hdd and it locks up, so i used a diagnostics disc that geek squad uses, well when it gets to the hdd test it blue screens or locks up.. well heres the weird part i used partition magic to format and create the new partition and stuff.. run windows install and it copies the setup files but after reboot it gives blue screen again.. im wondering if there is ne way to determine where the problem is and if i could fix or block the problem out with a smaller partition or something.. ne advice is great thx

My thinking here, without molesting it myself, is that you'd want to replace the drive. Once they start failing, even if you do bring them back their life is limited. You're on borrowed time after that.

That's my hunch without seeing it. The other thing you could check is to make sure his RAM modules are ok.

yea the first thing i did was swap the ram and it still does it so now i was tryin to save him some money, well if ne one has a laptop hdd not sata let mme know
