I have a HP Pavilion a810n, and was wondering if it would be possible to take all the parts out and put them in a Thermaltake VA3000BWA Tsunami Dream Tower, Black w/ Window. Would it all work? And would it be hard?
I would give it a 99% chance of working. It is a small form factor computer, so there is a slight chance that the motherboard is not mATX. But if it is, then yes, it will work fine.
Ok, I'm just a little hesitant on working on this stuff, I was working on an older computer, and when I plugged it back in and turned it on, the PSU blew and fried several components, and I didnt even change anything.
one thing though, you have to make sure that the mobo will fit in good.
YOu almost got the same model then me i ogt the HP pavillion a815n
I was also going to change tower, but i'm scared for the warranty. Good luck!
I dont even pay attention to warrenties. If something stops working, I just replace it with my own money. The one thing I ABSOLUTELY hate about my HP computer, is how the mount the HD. It's mounted RIGHT on the inside of the front of the case. How stupid is that? There is no rails or whatever you call them for it.
I helped my friend put his HP mobo into a new Thermaltake case and there were no problems except for one. Connecting the power and reset buttons was the biggest problem but we eventually figured it out through process of elimination.
I dont know how many pins I need though. =/ The PSU says it is 20+4 ATX connector, and when you click the mobo spec link, I THINK it is 20+4, can someone please verify?
you need a 20 pin with a additional 4 pin connector. 20+4 is the right one. as long as the case you wants fits microATX mobos you will be fine. all the screws might not line up but enough of them will, mine was 6/8 i think. 2 spots on the mobo dont have screws. definatley get a new psu.
i had the same problem with the power button. i did get it resolved however, but now i dont have a reset button (not like i care) and the front speaker and mic conections dont work. the usb ports work and thats rellly all i care about
