HP Pavilion dv4600

I got a small issue. This laptop that was given to me, It has a DVD-RW Drive in it, The drive opens and the disks spin up when you put one in. But, BIOS or windows will NOT see the DVD-RW drive. I have no idea why? Any thoughts would be very helpful, Thanks in advance!

Drive come with laptop or was it added on?

It came with the laptop, its built in.

Have you tried a dvd drive from another laptop? Usually they are only held in by a screw or two accessable from underneath the laptop.

I dont have another drive that fits in that laptop.

My sister has a similar issue. Does it recognise external storage devices like Memory cards or plugging in a digital camera?? Im pretty sure her drive is partitioned with a recovery and it cant even see that. Windows can only see the C drive.
