HP pavillion DV6000 is it a virus?

hello recently i have been getting these random flash's on my screen, its very very quick barely noticable but the screen goes black for like mila-seconds! dont know what it is??

Also i noticed today every like 5min Internet Explorer gets a problem and restarts! it is very annoying. I currently dont have a anti-virus or way to delete a virus because my disk drive is not working! and have no money to buy one.

I don't know too much about viruses, but if you want the experts to help try posting in the security forum( http://www.computerforum.com/computer-security/). If it is a virus, they should know what to do. Also, You can download some really good free antivirus, I use AVG which i downloaded free from www.download.com
