HP Simple Save external backup drive

Last year, I purchased the above, 2TB, to back up my files. When I purchased a new computer (with plenty of bells and whistles), I simply moved the backup drive to it so that I would have access to all my old files (I am a graphic designer). I never had problems with the backup on the old computer and had tons of space left on my backup drive. However, since moving it to the new computer, I have been alarmed at how much space is being used on it. I have wondered if it is doing more than one backup or something. Then today, I get a message that there is not enough space on the drive to do a backup...and it talked of deleting former backups. Two were listed and gave dates to and from. I was afraid to do anything because I was fearful of losing files permanently.

I hate to be so ignorant on this subject...but I need help! I called HP and spoke with a Simple Save rep a while back and they were NO help...the guy even told me to buy an additional backup drive. I was thinking that 2TB would be all I would need... I just need someone to explain to me what all this means.

I am trying to do an online backup but am discouraged that it is taking FOREVER to upload all my files. I have had one going for a couple of weeks now... Is there any way to back up your files more quickly? What do you recommend???

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond.

Online Backups are for people that got a few gigs to backup. The Only way to Backup a 2TB Drive is with another 2TB Drive.

But sounds like your plan is too complicated if you have lost control. I don't really like Automatic Backups, because of that.

I use Drag n Drop as my backup. When I create a File I don't want to loose, I drag n Drop it to 2 different Hard Drives, so if one Drive dies the other Drive has the backup. I actually have got (6) 2TB Drives, (3) of them back up the other (3)
