HP Update Messed up my Monitor???

I have a 30'' Monitor that I usually run at the Highest Res. and I clicked an HP update for my CPU, and when it was done installing it immediately changed the resolution of my monitor to 1600x1200, and thats the highest it says it can go all of a sudden. I'm pretty computer retarded but did the update screw up the graphic card setting or something like that?
