HSF compatibility

The HSF I'm now looking to get has a slight compatibility isssue with the motherboard I have, which does not allow use of the first PCIx slot, but does allow use of the second. If I just have one video card, can I jsut install it in the second slot with no problems and leave the first slot open?

You shouldn't have any problems with that, but make and model would help to be absolutely sure.
Off topic, but what does a HSF have to do with whether or not you use the first PCIx slot?

Hard to use a slot when the HSF on top of it would be my guess.

1. I assume you mean PCIx1 and not PCI-X
2. Since you have all the parts ... try it!
