HTPC shuts down with plazma?

hi guys, i have a HTPC connected to a 42" LG Plasma. it's been using a vga cable for a few months with no issues (cept no widscreen option, only 1024x768). Today i recieved the DVI to HDMI cable, i plugged it in and after about 10 mins of playing with the nVidea program it now looks great.

my only problem is that, now,the pc will turn off with the screen. whether i turn it off manually or it shuts down after the preset 10 mins of no use. when i turn the TV back on, i get a "connecting..." under the channel display, then the motherboard boot screen comes up. i have already gotten a few " windows wasnt shut down right last time. pls select your operating system or safe mode" screen. and even a memory dump once.

anyone have any ideas. no luck on the serch box here or google yet, thanks for any and all help.

I'm running the Windows 7RC. and yes all of the performance setting are maxed out. the only thing that i can think of would be the "Turn off monitor after...". i dont really want to turn that setting off totally because its a plasma tv. and if the screen is left on very long (2 mins of none use) it will get screen burn in HORRIBLY. so any other ideas or thoughts?

I put 7RC on my desktop and it does good...I put a copy on my HTPC and it wouldn't work with my sound card so I removed it and was using the on-board sound, but then I noticed that after a few minutes of playing some video the display would go to crap, like my gpu was about to overheat or something...It would also hang up in the middle of trying to tweak in the catalyst control center and I would have to re-boot..And I had GREAT resolution with XP but never could get it right with the new OS even though it was the very exact same system, and even downloaded Radeon patches just for Windows 7!! Windows 7 is gonna cause a lot of compatibility issues I afraid..I partitioned and put 7RC seperate from XP and glad I did because I got rid of 7 on my HTPC..I hope your not stuck with it because I think your issues are gonna continue for a while to come...And for the record, the only "old" hardware I had was the sound card...Everything else is new models....Good luck!!!

Bump. any ideas on this issue anyone? additional info, i'm running an Lg 42" plasma, Nvidia Geforce 8500GT. again, when the tv auto turns off after 10 min, or when manually shut off or changed imput channels, the computer will do a restart.
