HUGE problem

Ok guys. I'm pretty frusturated right now. My computer's power got cut off when I got back. I thought nothing of it other then a hard shut down. So I go to boot it up, and I keep getting this message that states if I should start in safe mode or start with last known good configuration or start up normally. I've tried all the options and i keep getting stuck at the windows loading with the bar (its windows xp pro). I've tried millions of times, I even took everything apart and reinstalled everything. Then I changed my BIOS to default settings. NOTHING WORKS.

so I got sick of it and wanted to install windows xp, but it wont even boot from the cdrom drive. Even when the boot priority selects the cdrom drive as first...

what is going on guys? PLEASE HELP ASAP.

that sounds strange do you think that the power cut might of erased some important info? did you make backup disks or do you have system recovery?

Have you tried using another cd/dvd drive in the case there? You probably saw a line surge when the power returned. Is your system protected by a power strip with surge protection? Taking the case apart may have seen damage to something from esd. Or the bios may need to be updated in order to correct loss of programming.

There's always that chance of a simple "zap" while handling memory, cpu, expansion cards, etc. although I never have a problem here by simply grabbing the chassis of the case itself before installing or removing anything. A line surge through a wall outlet with no surge protection would do some damage.

Besides a possible bad drive or the ide cable itself now being be "toast" you may have left it unplugged when you were busy putting everything back in. It sounds like the board itself is more functional then the cd drive there.
