We had some 'potato gun' that you'd put little spuds in and with the pressure behind the spud, pulling the trigger would launch it... but I doubt it could mess up a dish.

Use 3" SCH 40 PVC, a piezoelectric igniter (from a gas grill), some canned ether, and a large potato... Dish is gone!!!

I had DirectTV for about a year and every time it rained really hard I would lose signal. A buddy had Hughes which worked great for him (rural mountain area, had to truck sunshine in on a daily basis) but the price was exorbitant.

As for the spud gun, Stun gun for ignition is the way to go!
