Hypothetical BIOS Question

My new Cooler Master case has a off/on switch for the front fan. If I conect this fan to the MB & set the BIOS & load the OS what happens when I turn this fan off, does the BIOS care? I ask this for a specific reason. Some time ago, I changed out a fan that was connected to the MB with a larger fan, the result was a "Blue Death Screen".

It should be fine if you turn it off. You wouldn't get a blue screen simply by unplugging the fan, so turning it off shouldn't either.
