I am getting so tired of Win10 start button stop working

I need a permanent fix because not only does the start button quit working but the task bar also stops like my volume control. It comes back when I restart, but that is getting to be a huge pain in the butt.

I did a search and it looks like this is a common problem because there are a lot different solutions, but nothing permanent. I just can’t believe Microsoft hasn’t fixed this yet. They have a fix in their support site but it doesn’t work on my computer and it seems like the only thing I can do for sure is reboot.

I don't know, I may start looking at apple computers even when I don't do Apple anything.

The sure fix is to do a fresh install of 10 instead of upgrading. I've seen this many of times, some were due to Avast antivirus being installed, Once it was uninstalled, it worked. Do you have Avast installed?

I did have Avast for a short while while battling with Bit defender. I believe it is gone now, but I'm not sure if it is completely gone. The Windows 10 was the free upgrade from Wind 7 and I don't have a copy to do a clean install.

This is a common problem, even if you do a clean install. I've had it on numerous PCs. Right clicking the start menu always works, and you can restart from there.
Waiting for Anniversary Update (August I think) to go back to 10.

Thanks, this is what I have been doing, but when it really becomes an issue is when I want to copy & past to Word or notepad and I suddenly don't have access to my apps. Some news commercials have the volume cranked up and I can't turn the sound down quick enough. I can turn the sound down with the keyboard, but my first reaction is always from the task bar since I always the mouse in my hand.

I've never had a problem with start menu after fresh install, was always after an upgrade. Also try using classic shell start menu.

John, I didn't know that I could use the classic shell start menu. I looked for a setting when I first upgraded, but couldn't find it. I will look again.
