Hello,

I can't get anything to record through my microphone.

I tried both of my computer's microphone jacks, I tried two different mics, Device Manager doesn't show any problems under "Sound, video and game controllers," the Volume for the Microphone Recording and Playback in the Control Panel's "Sounds and Audio Devices" are set to maximum, with equal balance, and the Sound Hardware Test Wizard's Microphone Test doesn't detect my voice at all.

Any suggestions?=)

Thanks

My microphone still isn't recording anything on my computer.

I'm only guessing that it's a "driver" issue, but I don't know where to get the proper one that would make the microphone aspect work.

Here's a screen capture of my Device Manager with the Sound controllers showing:

Which of the items listed there controls the microphone? That may be a good start in my finding out where to download the driver I need.

Thank you!

I also tried "Driver Detective" upon Googling for a possible solution, and it gave me an interesting missing driver notice for a "Multimedia Audio Controller - PCI bus 0, device 31, function 5," as seen in this screen capture here:

But I can't download the driver it wants me to unless I register the program for $30. Is there any way to find out what the driver is/where to get it, just from the info they did give me alone?

Go to

Start > Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Sound Recorder.

You have to record voice from here.

Go to Control Panel > Sounds & Audio Devices

on 1st Tab which is Volume, click Advanced Tab,

and in the first menu namely Options, click on properties
Select Mixer Device as Input
Then select Stereo mix to record from pc
