i can't open my image files

hi there,
i formatted my computer. before the format, thousands of pictures was hidden on second partition of my hdd. i setup a different version of xp and i can't open these pics anymore. their color turned green and when they opened or view changed to thumbnails, no preview available writes on the screen. but only photos are lost. there is some videos and they can be opened properly. how can i get back my photos? thanks a lot...
 
I seems like you have some sort of codec problem (or whatever the proper term for image code is). What kind of files are they?
 
Perhaps you could try opening it in a different kind of viewer... Even WMP or realplayer will show images. Anyway, thats all I know, I hope you get it figured out.
 
i've tried all kinds of image viewer.. they turned green but file sizes still same. they were hidden. can it be the point? i'm going mad :( aaarrgghhh!!! what happened my photos??
 
you should of backed them up happend to me once with my corsework ages ago got so pissed it was unbelivable and from then i allways back everything up
