alright i have an older dell dimension xps t600r running windows xp. i got a new camcorder that allows me to upload my videos onto my computer. the videos uploaded fine, but they dont play correctly. when the vid plays, it plays a few frames and kind of just skips over everything. its really pathetic. i use quicktime 7.0 like the directions that came with the camcorder told me to. i thought a new vid card would do this trick because like i said, its an older computer, but after i installed a new and better video card, the clarity and graphics of the monitor were substantially better, but my videos still dont play! i can play videos on websites like youtube and stuff, but my videos dont work. i have all the updated media platers. what could be wrong? any suggestions are appreciated. -thanks

Video cards don't help playing videos. For the most part it's all rendered by the processor and uses a simple video overlay. Have you tried other players? Windows Media Player may work. Media Player Classic is my top choice. Others here like VLC. A quick google for any of them should direct you to the download.

windows media player does not play the type of file my movies are, so i downloaded quicktime and vlc. these programs are supposed to play the movies, but the same thing happens for both. (the movie barely plays)

Try Media Player Classic. I recall having this problem once before but I can't recall what I did to resolve it... I was thinking it was based around Quicktime(like the player) I know there are Quicktime alternatives that allow you to play MOV/MP4 files in Windows Media Player and Media Player Classic...

media player classic did the same thing that all the other players did. this is very strange becuase only the videos i upload dont play, but videos on websites will play.
