i can't watch DVD

hi

i just formated my laptop a few days ago and i can't watch DVD on it. i use to be able to but now it says " Create overlay fail. Please lower your screen resolution or colour depth and try again." on my WinDVD player.

can someone help me?

1. Have you installed the latests drivers for your video unit?
2. dis/Enable hardware acceleration?

1. To get drivers for your video unit, youll have to figure out what that is, usually they tend to be ATI on laptops although nVidia shows up here and there

2. Within the options for WinDVD there might/should be an option labeled, "Enable Hardware Acceleration"

1. NO ALL CAPSING :mad:
2. Changing the program wont fix any potential underlying problems (especially when PowerDVD ships default not to enable hardware accel)

I think it is a system problem, can you still get data off a DVD. If you can go into control panel and change around your resolution or even better reset all to factory default settings

you dont need to change the DVD player.. in fact there is nothing wrong with the DVD player.
