I DESPERATELY need Laptop/Notebook Advice - Australia

Hey I'm Vanessa! I just signed up for this forum... seems like a nice place to be

Anyway I'll cut to the chase... can someone PLEASE PLEASE help me!!! I am completely desperate at the moment, and I need help with a notebook/laptop dilemma.

My old laptop had it this morning... Just when I was working on an assignment too of course!

I am now in need of a new laptop which has a good graphics card as I am studying architecture and I need it for a lot of design work - I use ArchiCad and AutoCad type programs as well as PhotoShop. It needs to have a quick, fairly reliable processor (which I really don't know much about) and RAM of 512 MB+.

I am not too fussed about how much hard drive space there is, because I have a couple of a portable HDDs. Screen size... I'm not that fussy about once again, but would like something over 15" if possible.

Anyway, budget is of course my main concern. I can only afford AU $1600 at the moment at the most, however most most stores with laptops that are around $1800 will put their price down to $1600.

And just to add, I was looking at the HP Pavillion DV6-1129tx

I'm not sure about that graphics card though....

I can get it for $1500.

That's a pretty decent laptop, that graphics card should do what you want quite well.

There are other places you go to from Australia depending on your state like MSY etc etc.

I'm from australia too and familiar with all those stores. I think you should get the acer gemstone for $1200 . It has 4gb ram 512mbs graphics and i've seen it in jb hifi not long ago but u should see it in the other stores too. Sry i cant find a website link for it but if you go into one of those stores and look for a laptop branded acer and the nametag should say acer gemstone for roughly $1200 then that will be it.
