I just recently picked up a 8800GT seeing all the great benchmarks and praise. At $250 I said why not pick up a little gift for myself.

Well it came today a PNY 8800GT bone stock. My previous graphics card is a EVGA 8800GTS 320mb Stock settings but also overclocked later on.

Anyways with the 8800GTS overclocked to 640 Core, 1700mhz. I got 8500 3dMark06 score with 2.3GHZ AMD 4200+ and 1GB of DDR2 800. With Stock settings I got 6600 score.

With the 8800GT I cant get it any higher than 6300, thats also overclocking the 8800GT to a 720 core and 2000 memory and overclocking the system to 2.5ghz AMD 4200+.

No matter what I did the 8800GT wouldnt get pass 6300. When I tried different clocking speeds and stock speeds I got 6000-6200.

Could it possibly be that the GPU is bottlenecked severly? I'm gonna try the beta driver see if that helps.

My setup:
ASUS Crosshair motherboard
AMD Athlon X2 4200+ 65w
1GB G. SKill PC6400 DDR2 800mhz @ 2.1volts 4-4-4-12
Antec 900 Case
Antec True Power Trio 650w.
Windows XP Pro SP2 32bit.
Seagate 160GB 8mb cache 7200 SATA 3GB/S
Western Digital 200GB 7200 PATA External

I plan on upgrading to the AMD 6400+ 3.2ghz Black Edition and picking up 2 more 1GB sticks of G.Skill ram since they are $30. Also I'd like to SLI the 8800GT.

Any Help is appreciated.

its not just the video card you have to take into acount the amount of memory and the cpu will contribute to the score, i got around 12000 on 3dmark 06 look at my sig you will see what i mean,
i wouldnt worry to much the best way to benchmark your card is to play some games and see how it goes.
